2743886265_c7d332c462_o.jpg Second Life offers you an endless variety of shapes for your avatar or avatars. You can change your avatar's form by sliding (dozens of) sliders... But that's just the beginning of it. You can create a custom avatar out of prims and wear it (perhaps using an animation package to compress your original avatar to fit inside it) or purchase another resident's creation with Linden dollars. Whether your tastes run to humanoid, robotic, animal, or the fantastic, you can craft or purchase an avatar to suit.

To get started changing your avatar's form, right-click on the avatar. From the drop-down menu, select Edit My Shape. You can adjust the avatar's height, and the thickness of its muscles or its body fat under the Body sub-menu, change the shape and size of its head under the Head sub-menu, and so forth. You can modify its facial features, lengthen or shorten its legs, and arms, vary the size of its hands, and so forth. The process is self-evident once you get started. When you are satisfied with your creation, click on Save all...

One important factor in avatar customization is the inventory, of course, which holds skins, shapes, animations, body parts, hair, garments, and so forth. Adding to your inventory magnifies your customization options.

Note: One of the things meshes will allow is the creation of avatars from scratch!
